PREMIUM CARRIER SYSTEMS

Atera Premium Carrier Systems

Preserve traditions. Create new.

The company Atera was founded by Eberhard Tittel in 1963 in Ravensburg. The name Atera is an abreviation of "Autoteile Ravensburg" (car parts Ravensburg). Whole salers for car parts specialized early on the supply of sound absorbers as well as the production of adapter kits for exhausts.

1972, the trade with roof rack systems started.

1978, Atera began with the development and production of own roof rack systems - the specialization of Atera.

1980, Atera started to deliver to Opel - a direct collaboration with the automobile industry began.

2008, Atera became a member of the BOS group and is a subsidiary of this big and international operating concern since.

2009, Atera relocated to Leutkirch im Allgäu.

Today, Atera is well known as a renowned development- and production partner in the German and international automobile industry.

Atera carrier systems stand for highest standards, technical innovations and functional aesthetics. Premium quality is key when transporting bikes, ski or snowboards, canoes and surfboards, roof boxes or the Atera Works series.

Atera products are designed in Leutkirch im Allgäu and are well known for their outstanding german design- and engenieering performance. If you follow the german and international press, you will notice the positive mentions as well as the recommendable awards we received for tested Atera products.

And even if it doesn't say so on the product, many carrier systems on the road have been designed and engineered by us. The high functionality, great design and solid fabrication of Atera products are highly appreciated by well known automobile manufacturers.

An extensive quality management does not only guarantee premium quality but also ideal conditions for delivery and trade.

Atera production underlies very strict german environmental requirements and the compliance of current environmental guidelines is constantly monitored.

When form follows function.

What will the future look like? Which sport equipment will we use in 5 or 10 years? Are we still going to travel by car?

Will there still be bikes as we know them today? Requirements and demand are constantly changing. A few years ago, we could not foresee the strong development of e-bikes and thus, demand for carrier system in this area were still dreams of the future. Today,  Atera is the company with the worldwide widest range of products for e-bike carriers.

Design is much more than just visual appearance. In the beginning there is a demand and a product idea. Market behaviour, consumers, new materials and environmental aspects need to be researched and evaluated. It is a long way from the first design sketch until the final series product. User comfort, functionality, design and quality are currently the center of this development.. In the process, designers and engineers use state of the art 3D CAD constructions and the Finite- Element- Method (FEM) for the strength calculation.

Before the finished product is being released, it needs to pass extreme tests and conditions.
